ELGA Co-Hosts a Workshop on the Theme: From Environmental to Ecological Law

On October 17-18, 2017, in Montreal, Quebec, ELGA co-hosted a workshop on the theme “From Environmental to Ecological Law” with the Economics for the Anthropocene (E4A) Law and Governance Research Initiative. The workshop was organized around 3 themes:

  • The need for a move from environmental to ecological law
  • A deep dive into the meaning of ecological law
  • The challenge of the transition from environmental to ecological law

The workshop highlighted presentations by leading researchers, activists and thought-leaders in the emerging field of ecological law, with a view to 1) publication of workshop papers in a special issue of an appropriate journal or a monograph, and 2) invigoration of follow-up research, outreach and mobilization of knowledge. The workshop followed ELGA’s launch events in Siena, Italy, October 11-14, 2017.
